Bajaj Pulsar 135cc LS DTS-i is the latest bike to make its foray into the two-wheeler market. Bajaj Pulsar 135cc LS DTS-i is developed by the engineering department of Bajaj Auto, in association with Tokyo R&D. Bajaj Pulsar 135cc LS DTS-i is the bike that truly fits the definition of a cool bike with superlative performance. Bajaj Pulsar 135cc LS DTS-i incorporates the latest in auto-technology and is featured in the advanced bikes category. Prior to the introduction of the Bajaj Pulsar variant, the focus of the industry was to manufacture small fuel efficient bikes in the capacity of 80 - 100 cc to cater to the needs of the exceedingly price sensitive Indian customers. However, recent launches of 135 cc and 150cc+ bikes in the sub 250 cc markets have shown that such bikes are also in demand in the highly competitive market. 

The Launch 

Capitalizing on this fact, Bajaj motorcycles launched the Bajaj Pulsar motorcycle incorporating the latest technology and higher engine volumes. With Bajaj Pulsar, Bajaj Auto has been successful in creating a new segment in the Indian motorcycle market catering to the younger generation that demands more powerful bikes at affordable prices. 

The Bajaj Pulsar is just the bike that exactly fits this definition and need. It's a cool bike that delivers pulsating performance and has throbbing looks to entice and charge up the young and definitely male Indian rider 
The original novelty 
The original Bajaj Pulsar was launched in 2001 that featured150 or 180 cc air cooled four-stroke engine along with other features like disc brakes, which were considerably novel introductions in the market then. The 180 cc model came with electric start and twin-tone horn; both of these were optionals in the 180 cc version. 
Subsequent variations 
Encouraged with the successful launch of the early version of the Pulsar, Bajaj incorporated a number of improvements in its later versions in the following years. 
The second generation Pulsars launched in 2003 included the newly developed DTS-i technology thus improving the engine power by 1 bhp. The 2005 series of the Pulsars featured 17" alloy wheels, lower stance, 15 litre fuel tank capacity and Nitrox filled gas shock absorbers. 
The 2006 series included key changes in the looks and styling, which includes a range of features like self-cancelling turn indicator switch, flush LCD screen with digital read out of important vehicular data, pilot lamps, new design turn indicators, new LED tail light assembly, better engine torque, reduced engine and body vibrations, and improved gear shift. 
The latest versions of Bajaj Pulsar include DTS-i, DTS-Fi and exhaust-tec technology, along with a number of key improvements in the body and design. In 2007, Bajaj launched the 220 cc DTS-Fi with new and improved features. The characteristics that differentiate this bike from the rest of the DTS-i family include oil cooled fuel injected engine, front and rear disc brakes, tubeless tyres, digital speedometers, and parabolic projector headlamps. 

The Technology 
The DTS-I family consists of three bikes namely 220 cc DTS-i, 180 cc DTS-i and the 150 cc DTS-i. These bikes are gifted with the latest technology and advances in the Indian motorcycle industry. 
The dual twin spark ignition (DTS-i) technology that drives these bikes is an advanced level expertise in the motor cycle industry in this country. The normal combustion chamber features just one spark plug at one end. However, the newer technology incorporates twin spark plugs, i.e. at both ends of the combustion chamber to facilitate better fuel burning. In this way, this technology makes possible faster and better combustion of fuel. Currently Bajaj auto is in the process of patenting this technology in India. 
The ignition that is fed to the sparkplugs is governed by a digital CDI with an 8 bit microprocessor switch that controls the spark delivery to the spark plugs. The microprocessor is programmed with the information about the spark timing at any given engine rpm. This delivers the best possible performance from the combustion chamber. 
The digital CDI works in tandem with the TRICS III system, which is an acronym for throttle responsive ignition control system - third generation. To explain this briefly, the throttle opening signals a magnetic system to govern the reed switch, which in turn is linked to the digital CDI. This combined system controls the ignition to obtain the desired performance. 
The constant velocity carburettor delivers high performance to the engine in combination with the advanced technology that forms a part of the Pulsar family. Additionally, the Exhaust-Tec technology integrated in the exhaust system of the Pulsar engine improves the overall exhaust process and assists the engine in better performance at low, mid and high engine revs. 
What's special about DTS-FI 
The DTS-Fi system, which forms the heart of the 220 cc Pulsar, replaces the conventional carburettor with a fuel injection system. It sprays fuel into the engine based on the instructions received from the engine control unit (ECU) that forms a part of the Engine Management System (EMS) of the motorbike. This fuel injection system is a far better performer than the carburettor. 

For example, the Fuel injection (FI) system delivers an increased power output, better torque, lower emission levels, improved cold start, and quick warm up. The DTS-Fi technology is patented by Bajaj Auto, though another bike - the Hero Honda Glamour Fi offers the fuel injection technology on a similar basis.
